A panel of judges comprised of Mexican tourism officials evaluated 216 submissions from 11 countries in seven languages in award categories ranging from articles and travel guides to short films, documentaries and photographs for content, accuracy, style and how compellingly they portray Mexico's tourist attractions, services and infrastructure.
The winning Website, www.MexicanPacific.com, is a sleek travel site that was launched last year and presents the most comprehensive, captivating glimpse into natural and historic sites, ecotourism activities and accommodations along Mexico’s Gold Coast, from the Costalegre to Manzanillo and Colima. Just last month, it launched an online reservations system linking more than 10,000 monthly visitors who frequent the site directly with the area’s top hotels.
“Many travel Web sites are poorly organized with a clutter of photos and text that makes it difficult to find information on a destination,” says Mexican Pacific Marketing President Robert Oveson, who hails from southern California. “Other sites have vague descriptions of locations and tours that are written by people who have never visited the area.
